Down by the lake

Could you come

spring is just starting to burst

i saw a robin today

in the open pasture there were many noisy crows

flying, perching and washing themselves in puddles

that reflect the clouds over head

with bright bits of leaves floating 

such a joyous ruckus

Could you come 

there is a bit of sun bursting and it feels like

the very first spring

as the winter was so starkly bare and lingered

many a day

but today you can sit on a rock and watch the clouds moving

or walk through the woods and see the bright

bursts of new life

Could you come

even with the cold, the cherry blossoms are blooming

row after row of

specks of green and pink

that will soon be full with glory

Could you come

the water is still and calm here

and if you sit long enough sometimes a turtle appears

on a big rock or the duck and her babes waddle by

and the glorious mountain that seems omnipresent

emerges from behind the clouds

the children are playing and laughing here too

their toys are the sticks and rocks

this world is a joy to them

everything is brand new

Leave your busy day and come

let the song of doing go

come down to the waters of life 

that wash your work away

sit for a long time under a tree 

and watch the shadows fall
