Buddha Mind

Mind is empty in it's pure state
self luminous and clear
nothing that can be described
as it has no origin
it is causeless
that which is caused has a birth
and therefore subject to decay and death
that which has no origin
is untouched and remains constant
through the shades of causal happenings

The nature of pure mind is liberation
appearances that rise within it
are empty and insubstantial
to allow mind to rest within it's true nature
and not grasp at appearances
is to get a taste of buddha mind

Pure mind is liberating
pure mind liberates thoughts and appearances
if there is no grasping
like a bird flying into boundless space
this is a thought
that rises in pure mind
a cloud formation does not touch it's essence

non-dual always..

those still in the throes of mind
see the liberated soul
as being so many things
such as this and that
or possessing this and that
qualities
but this is never right
it is only the divided mind
that sees this way
the liberated one is
not anything that can be
defined like this
as pure consciousness
is not the body ever
or the qualities seen
by the eye
or defined by the mind
pure consciousness
is all and nothing
zero
not this or that
completely still
indescribable
non-dual always

the absolute

i have no enemies
or a world to come and go within
i have no birth or death
i have no name
no pride
no shame
no lust
i have no family
no burden to bear
no cross to carry
or mixed emotions
i have no home to go to
or leave
i have no shelter
and nothing to protect
i have no call to hear
no haunting within
no shifting sands
or moving tides
i have no gates to walk thru
or doors to lock
i have no fear
i have no misperception
i have no coming
i have no going
i have no living
i have no death
i have not risen
i have not fallen away
i am o ne always
free
complete
still
full
timeless
perfect peace

nightingales song

nightingale
your melodious song of love
flows on the night breeze
so tender and warm in the still evening
as to melt hearts that sit near
is your love undying in its breath
and lost to the beauty of the open moment?
or has it been caught in desire to hold another
and keep it for yourself?
so true is the o ne love as to be the all
never to put an ache in your breast again
or to set you out to call
the name of your beloved
as you sit on the branches
looking out into the depths of the night..
awaiting and anxiously watching..
your brown plumage like the earth so bare..
if you are to fly free
away from this tree of sorrow
homeward to melt in the dawn
of an awakened mind ..
then leave out this call
for another to come and make your soul complete
oh rich notes that rise in glory from your throat
do not put to shame the absolute
or waste your energies in a divided way
to sew seeds of unrest
here amongst nature so very free at heart
come fix your sight on transcending
your want of something other
be complete as you are now
as your call then is within the light
that stretches far beyond
your small form and finery of your colors
and sweet appearance
nightingale fly tonight away
and set yourself against the full moon
to be swallowed there
never to come again as shadow
but only to rise brilliant
as the dawn of true knowledge...

no-mind

when the master speaks
it is to lay open the false patterns of mental ways
and to reveal a deeper seeing that wakes one up
to reality as it is --
the masters mind is completely cleared of obstructions
and shields that hide what is pure
it is this clarity that is so very powerful in creating
a shake up to ones private world that is so familiar
there is nothing that one can do or say when pure consciousness
strikes the mind deeply --
what is revealed is a *direct* experience of non-dual existence
the mind loses its power to grasp and cover over
and the light that has always been within the center
is revealed
the direct experience of pure consciousness can come at any hour
any moment
within any experience ...
there is no telling where or when...
when mind does fall
there is no preparing or inviting it ...
it simply happens as spontaneous as anything in nature ..
without a doer  --
this does not mean that there is no preparing ...
this is the paradox
there absolutely needs to be -- Guru, practices, patience
consistency.. surrender ... all of it very much needs to be in place
for the fruit to ripen....
and drop from the tree...

nothing less than sahaj samadhi...

when the sincere seeker comes and sits
in the presence of Guru
mind is purified effortlessly
it is the greatest blessing of this life
to find an authentic Guru..
without this light  --
one is caught in philosophy and **thoughts** of
what is true and what is false....
not the direct experience of it...
which is like night and day...
in fact there is no relation....
and much of the time one does not even know
that there is a blindness within
until there is a direct experience and the mind
falls away  ...
even for a moment
then yes...  one can see what is being said by Guru
is 100% undiluted truth....
the ones that fight what is being said and move
back into the shadows
believing they know better are indeed their own
worst enemy and do not know it or want to admit it...
very sad indeed as they are only hurting themselves...
this is the truth friends ...

the darkness can be very deceptive in creating
false shadows that one takes to be real
or one can fool themselves into believing
they are farther ahead than what is indeed the reality..
when caught in this type of thing
there is stagnation really
because there is no chance for mind to be challenged
and forward motion to continue...

so please devoted soul,
do not stay content with any type of mental concept
or thought pattern
be it good or bad...
continue with self inquiry and the practices
stay steady
it is not until every thought is washed clean
that a clear mind can be revealed --
and when no-mind is steady and effortless
(sahaja samadhi)
then indeed one has completed
and this needs to be confirmed by Guru...

may your journey continue in earnest...

holding the center...

in the golden era munis wandered the land of india
with their practice of being completely silent within and without
many rishis or far seers roamed as well  --
this was the time that India was fertile ground for spirituality
and devotional practices were more common than not
wandering was the main practice of seeking
the householder aided the path by giving food to the sannyasis
and sadhus that were sincerely absorbed in sadhana
and seeking earnestly the light of truth
as it was known their efforts would aide humanity...
there were very few fraudulent sadhus then ...
and a genuine energy of sincere desire for truth permeated the air
this was quite a different mentality and feeling that is present now...
and speaks to what could be if humanity let go of clinging to wealth, status
and desire for bodily pleasure....
this focal point drains the energy of spirit --
waters it down and deconcentrates it to the point where it becomes buried very deep...
so now there is Kali Yuga or the time of great shadow and covering over of beauty and light...
the true sadhus, sannyasis and sages of the golden era were awesome in presence and skillful
at cutting through the thick mentality of dualistic thought...
this type of mastery of mind is indeed what comes from serious seeking in which the world
is completely forgotten and not entertained at all....
one cannot describe the openness of the scene at this time --
but it was sure to have been a great meeting of no-minds which held the center of
energy beautifully....  if you can imagine
Guruji has said often that it has never been the  wordly type Gurus in
in the ashrams that are what gives strength and backbone to spiritual energy ..
it is the sincere sadhus and sages that live in the caves that are unknown in name and form to humanity...
they come out and wander sometimes holding the dandi (spiritual staff) and with this energy of
meditation and no-mind ....
keep the fires of purification glowing as bright as possible...
so now, even with the world as it is
the seekers of truth are to honor the same heart as the ones
that came in as naked wanderers of the earth ...
this is very possible because the pure core is the same ---
and of course the Guru is the one holding the central transmission which makes it all happen...

Be yourself in FULL --

the truth is not popular
this is for sure
it does not cater to egos whims and desires
it comes on strong and hits hard
and is meant only for those that have enough
strength within so as not to retreat
and take cover back within the familiar world
in which there is no true internal challenge

the ones that speak truth are not on stage
to be a persona that is *liked* or popular
the impersonal (truth)  does not care if it pleases or not
or care if it gathers crowds or
receives praise or slander
no matter the external conditions
it does not shift what it *is*
in the least...
which is pure, undiluted, raw and without
covers

to move beyond mental patterns
there needs to be a shaking up of the internal world
so closely guarded...
this is what the Guru is to embody...
the fires that purify --
and these fires can and will burn deep
it is not pleasant --
it is like a wound being abraded --
it hurts
but in the end brings lasting healing
which the bandaid solutions of ego will
never, ever bring....
and the majority are in search of the short-lived
pleasures to be gathered in life...
oblivious to the light of the Lord that lies within
this is called ignorance or *suffering*
the two are one in the same ..

truly the one that comes in with a sturdy form
a decent amount of intelligence..
and is lucky enough to have food and shelter ...
has enough to go forward and find the treasure
that lies within
the one that does not inquire into the truth about the self
is a life that will continue in circle
and come back to relive that which was neglected..
there is no getting out of it friends

may this New Year bring a resolution
to keep going in earnest (if you have already started the search)
if you are just standing in the wings looking in
with idle curiosity
may you be roused to take steps forward...

come now friend
make of your life one that has true worth...
be yourself in FULL
this time around...

Beyond all opposites...

ego is under the delusion that a *me*
will be awakened
and this is where one can get caught up
and identify a personal self with
liberation which is so entirely false...
what is revealed within the non-dual consciousness
is that there was *never* such an entity as
a separate self --
separation has never existed at all...
and one can only say at the point of awakening
that prior to this, one had been within a dream state...
all pairs of opposites such as *i am or am not
good enough* or * i am or am not worthy enough*
hold no water whatsoever when mind falls

ego only knows opposites --
and sets out to try to be perfect
to fill holes and
insecurities due to feeling incomplete...
.. not good enough, not right enough...
..not this, not that...
none of this is *true* --
absolutely none...
and you are not what you *think* you are...
and there is nothing that you have done *right*
or *wrong* that has anything to do
with what you truly are at the core of being...
there is a paradox that great effort *is* needed to
enter liberation ...
but there is no one that remains to claim it in the end
the one making efforts goes... dissolves and
no doer remains...
mind is so not able to grasp it even for a moment...

why chase worldly drama?

if you are in the way of making something
exceptional of your life
then why are you off into worldly drama?
there is nothing that will be found there that
eases your suffering...
the *truth* alone
is what will take the ache away
that has come from
grasping at shadows
it is a very sad thing that a one that is
to be desirous of liberation
continues to buy into and chase
worldly happenings ...
as this will not bring the goal
of freedom near...
it will only serve to hold blinders in place..
what takes place in the world
is indeed filled with emotion
in every direction,,,,
this is not to be held as the most attractive
because to be enmeshed within it
will not take away a single tear ..
which does not mean that one is not
sad or happy within the moment of
certain events
and will not respond to them in
a way that is true
it simply means that to keep *cranking*
on an event or happening is to lose
what is taking place in this moment...
and to lose clear *seeing*-
(which is what will maintain
clarity and balance )
it is the best help to all of nature
and humanity when one rests
settled in the heart within quietude
and silence no matter the conditions
then the words or actions that come
are right and well
and will speak to the situation with
balance and sincerity
and will bring a shift to those that
are open...
and what the
world is so desperately
in need of is *balance*...
so, friends of the heart
be real and just
be what you are without all
the drama...
the  world patterns will play out
as this has been in motion
from time beginning...
what is to be done lies
within --
and then what comes forward
from this center of being
will be for the best
there is no doubt...

May all be well --

what is lasting

Heaven and earth
are the making of mind
they do not live in the o ne
or rise in the heart of
a liberated soul
they are pictures and captions
that mind is entranced with only
and do not bring any lasting
knowledge

The story of Buddha

Buddha sat under the bodhi tree to clear
his mind of the false
why did he come to sit and how
did he find himself under the tree

He was born in a family of wealth
that were focused on externals
clothes, royal trappings and games of love, war, sex
and worldly pleasures were their mind sets
this was very superficial in nature
and did not hold to any substance
or find its way into the heart of the young
seeker
he was looking for something other than
what came like this and gave no lasting return
he was wanting to be free of all attachments
of form and desire
to rid his mind of the false energies that rose
to haunt his soul in the morning, day and evening
he was not wanting to live like a king
for it held no lasting value

Once his longing for freedom fully blossomed
and he knew for certain he was not a man of
the world
and did not want delve further into the life
that was handed so easily to him
(like a plate filled with wonderful
foods and pleasures right at hand)
When he knew for certain
he had enough of all of this
and that his desire was firing elsewhere
in the heart to seek
this is the evening when
he took to his horse and went out with the help of his long
time companion
and then journeyed forth alone
he did not bring with him heavy trappings of the past
as this would be very cumbersome and daunting
for he was to journey through mountain passes and
into lands that were very rigorous
so why then would he bring the heaviness of his
past with him
he left the wealth
he left his family
he left his child (in good hands with those in the
community to care for)

So he moved forward
what he found in the beginning was suffering
suffering that he had been shielded from before
and he was shocked
he saw people starving and gaunt
like skeletons
pain wracking their eyes and heart
he saw souls lost and left to waste away like shadows
he saw old age and decrepitude
he saw poverty
he saw struggle and deep despair in the eyes
of those sitting by the roadside
what a shock this was indeed
as nothing like this had ever been revealed
before

He did not go to feed these souls food
or find them water
he did not bless them or help them up to stand
he did not call them come near or even pray for them
instead, he resigned himself to find freedom so that all of
humanity would have a map out
to be free of suffering eternally

So he wandered through the forest
barefoot and clothed only in a bit of cloth
with the elements coming in fully as there was no door
to shut or any locks in this open land
he carried no money
he begged for food and alms
he ate what he found
shrubs and berries
seeds and even earth when there was nothing
he slept on the dirt under the full moon
with the wild animals of nature's creation
and listened to their call in his ear
he encountered dangers
snakes, leopards, tigers and all the
wild things that people shun
and he sat shaking and petrified
but stayed, sat, walked
and continued

If he were to go back to where he came from
he would not be the buddha
or the example of glory
that he is
or the one that showed the way out
of suffering
he would be another creature
that sank into worldly desire and was lost
to their own true nature
like so many others
he would not have awakened
to the truth

So he wandered and sank into himself
in loneliness and dark places
but moved forward
he brought a lamp and this is the lamp
that lit his soul up
(not an external light)

he had no guide

**(Though this is not what is spoken
in the scriptures as the way that all can take
without a guide.
The majority need a true sturdy guide.
He is a rare example.)**

Onward he went into the shadow land of mind
and its dark hauntings
the desires of flesh
the desires of food for the beast of ego
the desires for finding something for yourself
and holding it away as being yours only
all of the desires that haunt souls of those
in the shadows

He went into these dark energies
and did not run
and yes he was afraid and burned with the
desire to run
but did not

He found himself in many rough waters
in which he did not know what to feel or think
but he called inward always
to be present and steady

He almost wasted away to nothing
skin stretched across bone
and barely breathing
when a small girl
gave him some milk
he drank from it
because he finally understood
the body needed nourishment
and the soul needed the body for a time
to discover the truth
if the body died now
he would have lost this chance

The bodhi tree is a symbol
of his time spent in awakening
to his true nature
it is not a symbol that fits into your
picture of what it is
it is a shining example
of the forthright and steady efforts
of a soul to sit and discover himself
in nature with its spreading mystery
and open elements
the bodhi trees roots are so broad and flow
underground so deep that there is no way
that tree is going to be shaken
this is like the spirit that is steady
through the winds of change and testing
waters
this is why the ones that do enter reality are the ones
that continue in spite of obstacles

The bodhi tree is where buddha sat
for many a day
and many and hour
he did not wander around and talk
or ruminate about what he left behind
he just sat
steady
and the demons came
and the desires rose up
this is where he continued to penetrate
the nature of mind and its false ramblings
he shook them clean
and tore away the covers of the false
he wrenched the mind clean of its wanderings
and personal stains
he wiped the mind of its outer layers that
blocked the light of truth
he did not reflect on what this or that meant
or hold his knowledge against the scriptures
or the lights of others
he was looking to find out himself
so he could be a lamp to humanity
this is when he awakened
when all the false nature of impurities
burnt away
and the beauty of truth lit up

Buddha is awakened
and this is what it means
to be **awake**

Is it not amazing

Christ laid down the law
like a crusader of truth
and what was lurking as unreal
fled

is it not an amazing thing that his light
shed beauty on a land that was hidden in darkness
is it not amazing that lost souls came and drank from the pure waters
but did not always follow his law like it was laid down
so this is why the bible is not understood
there is so much beauty there if one reads with the right heart

what is said in the pages of the bible is the law of truth
and what is to be followed without mixing in
your own truth or version of it
if this is done, the words do not ring as real
and cannot live what they are meant to be

is it not amazing that Christ came as a wanderer
of the earth
and shorn the fields of mind clean with his mighty
tongue that spoke only grace
is it not amazing how the seeds he scattered grew only purity
and the hands he held were only his fathers which was found to be
non-different than him

isn't it amazing that Christ pierced through the net
of the false
with his sharp sword of knowledge
and beat down all that threatened the land of glory
which is peace

isn't it amazing that Christ loved himself as he truly was
without clothes and name or face
this is how he loves you too
and sees you this way

Isn't it amazing how the words of Christ are the same as all
the sages and Gurus
they are here to clear the land of shadow
and not to play
in your world
they love you like the light you are
and want you to be happy
isn't it amazing

sannyas/sadhu life

if you want to cling to the past
then it is best to go and chase those things
because what the wandering sadhus are
really meant to do is wander
alone and naked
not pick up the chains of the world
and try to find refuge there

the sadhu is like the meat of the seeking
he is what the writings of the rishis speak about
as being lords of themselves and not
wearing the robes for the wrong reason
to flaunt about
and gossip
which we see so much of
what a terrible thing to wear the robes
and not truly have the heart of peace and
seeking in joy and wanting to really know
this is such a shame to see

the sadhu's staff and rod are the holdings
of the truth that guide him like a light
they bring him steadiness and joy
they hold him upright so he can walk in the
land of the shadows and not be afraid

his earthly wear is orange
which is the color of burning the dross
this is so glowing that the eyes cannot see it
easily because the heart is the one that fires

he walks barefoot and sometimes naked
because he is like a newborn babe
he is fresh and new
and released from his past entanglements
he does not worship at an altar
the open sky and land are his home
where he wanders
he does not stop to rest unless he
has to
so he keeps up with nature
and stays in pace with her wondrous changes

one may come by and kiss his feet
but this is not for him
it is for the devotion of the soul to find
a way into the heart where the sadhu is
and is not meant to worship his form
but to love the truth

a sadhu's body is not thought about
to him
it is like anything else of the earth
and is not to be worshipped or worried about
he does not sit on pretty thrones
he sits on rocks or the hard ground
and does not care if his body is sore
or bruised
he lays his head on mother earth
and sleeps a few hours
then wanders again

what is his name?
-he has none
what his family?
none
what is his bread?
the earth and what is given to him by others
what are his questions?
- what is truth?
-what is real?
-what is my true nature?
how does he go about finding it
-by being still
how does he live?
-alone
how does he dwell?
-in caves or wherever he finds himself
how does he know when he has completed?
-there is no one left to ask anything
how does he find God?
-by being still
how does he worship?
-by loving his own heart and seeing God everywhere
how does he know what love is?
-by being love
how does he know what kindness is?
-by being kind and honest with all of nature
how does he know when the light is near?
-because he cannot find himself like he was
how does he know the beginning?
-by finding the end
how does he know the end?
-by finding the beginning
what is his true name?
-the absolute
what is his joy?
-God
what is his mighty sword?
-the sword of knowledge
what is his birthright?
-to know his true nature
when is his mind pure?
-when the shadows rise no more
is it true that he dies and is never reborn?
-yes, if his mind is completely still
what can i do to be like this?
-let go of attachments
what can i do about fear?
-stop thinking of yourself
what if i am a householder?
-then your heart is in the home
what about truth in the home?
-find it in love with your family
what will i do if i live without knowing the truth?
-you will have another chance
